Development Manager – Energy Mix Productions – Montréal

Position Summary
Energy Mix Productions is seeking a Development Manager who is keen to develop and execute a fundraising strategy for a growing organization. The Development Manager will work with the Publisher of The Energy Mix, and with other team members, to identify fund development opportunities, cultivate meaningful relationships, secure funding, and steward current and past donors. Energy Mix Productions currently has a handful of active grants and a small donor base. We are looking to grow and refine the organization’s fund development strategy (and implementation) with a focus on building multi-year support through a major gifts strategy by partnering with foundations, corporations, individuals, and government grant programs.

Responsibilities
Develop, with the Publisher, fund development strategies and implementation plans
Manage and enhance an annual grant and funding calendar
Lead and oversee the development and submission of competitive grant applications, funding proposals and partnership pitches
Collaborate with the Energy Mix Productions team in the development, completion and submission of all reporting requirements related to grants, funding and partnerships
Support financial forecasting and collaborate in the annual budgeting process
Research and qualify major gift prospects
Cultivate relationships with prospects, donors and partners
Participate in fundraising-centered communications activities
Develop, maintain and execute an annual stewardship plan
Supervise outside grant writers and consultants as needed

You’re a good fit for this role if
You’re a strategic thinker with a dedication to raising funds to support good work
You are familiar with Canadian energy and climate issues and motivated to raise funds for a community news site dedicated to giving our audiences the climate news they need to drive faster, deeper carbon cuts
You are interested in raising funds for community engagement projects that explore and advance climate solutions that leave no one behind
You have a proven ability to research, cultivate, solicit, and steward new sources of individual, corporate, foundation, and government support
You are an experienced fundraiser. Instead of listing a required number of years of experience, we’ll state what we need: a fundraiser with enough experience that you are are comfortable taking the lead on reaching revenue goals that affect the livelihoods of team members and the impact of the organization
You have existing knowledge of, and ideally relationships with, Canadian/U.S. foundations and potentially with major donor networks

You are a great writer and comfortable with your presentation skills, for both internal and external audiences
You excel at big picture thinking while also being detail oriented
You enjoy working with a team of kind and respectful people
You enjoy autonomy with your work and your time, and respect for your expertise
