Director of Formulary Management – Department of Health – Fredericton

We are seeking an individual to join our Pharmaceutical Services Branch as the Director of Formulary Management. This position is based in Fredericton and reports to the Executive Director of Pharmaceutical Services.

The Director of Formulary Management is responsible for leading all activities associated with the drug review process to ensure the most cost-effective drugs are listed as benefits on the New Brunswick Drug Plan’s Formulary based on  expert advisory committee recommendations.

Responsibilities include:

Developing, implementing and maintaining policies and processes regarding formulary management;
Participating in the national Common Drug Review, the pan-Canadian Oncology Drug Review and the Atlantic Common Drug Review;
Working with other federal/provincial/territorial drug plans to identify common issues and solutions related to formulary management;
Participating in the drug review process for the Provincial Regional Health Authorities Formulary and for ensuring consistency with the NB Drug Plan’s Formulary, where applicable;
Providing clinical information and advice regarding NB Drug Plan’s Formulary listing decisions and policies;
Providing guidance and recommendations on  reimbursement decisions;
Drafting briefing notes, reports and other assignments.

Essential Qualifications: Post graduate degree (Clinical masters or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree) and a minimum of six (6) years of clinical pharmacy practice to include relevant experience in both a hospital and community setting; or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Degree and a minimum of eight (8) years of clinical pharmacy practice to include relevant experience in both a hospital and community setting.

Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the New Brunswick College of Pharmacists.

Salary: $97,422 to $107,244 per annum
