Director of Victoria International Student Programs – School District No. 61 – Victoria, BC

EDUCATIONAL STAFFING:

The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 19,000 students in the Greater Victoria area.  To provide this service, the District has an operating budget of $172 million and approximately 2,800 employees.

Reporting to the Superintendent, the Director of Victoria International Student Programs (VISP) is the key leader in the school district for all matters related to the District’s International Student Programs and International Education.  The Director is also responsible for the acceptance, registration and placement of international students and teachers on exchange programs, and for the registration of foreign, non-fee paying students.  The Director works closely with the Secretary-Treasurer, senior staff and school principals.

Along with the Vice-Principal of VISP, the Director is responsible for international student recruitment, revenues and annual budgets.  Currently the District registers 890 students in the Regular Program and 480 Short-Term, Group and Summer Program students.  VISP operates under an $11.5 millon annual budget.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Master’s Degree – preferably in International Education.
Significant international educational administration / leadership experiences.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to positively interact with students, staff, parents, agents and institutional partners.
Commitment to the implementation of the District’s International Education service delivery model and to provide custodial service and responsibility for all VISP students.
Leadership in implementing District and Ministry best practices in support of International Education and communications with key stakeholders, agents, institutional partners and natural parents overseas.
Build consensus, commitment and collaboration among various school-based and District staff, and other stake holders within the community.
Thorough knowledge of the Ministry of Education’s audit compliance criteria for International Education and Offshore study programs.
Ability to monitor all international students and their needs from both an educational programming and homestay perspective.
