Position Summary

Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Manager, Certification will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Ontario EcoSchools program in support of its strategic objectives. The Program Manager, Certification will collaborate with the programs team to ensure the effective development and delivery of certification assessments, workshops and webinars, program resources, and support services to a network of over 1,750 schools and 53 school boards. During assessment season, the Program Manager will train and supervise a small team of part-time certification assessors. The Program Manager will also support program evaluation, reporting, and proposal development.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develops and implements all aspects of the Ontario EcoSchools certification program in collaboration with programs team
Manages Platinum certification and the Experienced EcoSchools Certification Cycle (EECC)
Develops and facilitates professional development workshops and webinars to educators and board-level stakeholders
Develops and administers the online certification application
Provides direct support to schools and school boards through strong relationship management
Coordinates the certification site visit schedule of ~900 site visits, 25+ assessors and ~53 board representatives
Manage site visits in schools and assesses/finalize EcoSchools certification applications
Selects, trains, and supervises part-time Certification Assessors with programs team
Prepares regular program reports by collecting and analyzing feedback and certification data
Supports program evaluation processes and incorporates learnings into program planning
Support the development and implementation of program outreach strategies
Support the development of program materials and resources
Work closely with the Program Director and perform other duties as assigned
Some overnight travel required

Qualifications

5+ years of professional experience and 2+ years of program management experience in environmental education or related field
Successful completion of a post-secondary degree in education, environmental studies, applied science, or related field or equivalent experience. Masters degree is an asset
Demonstrated understanding and interest in environmental issues and/or environmental education
Experience in delivering professional development to teachers and/or senior board staff
Excellent public speaking, facilitation, relationship management, and communications skills
Excellent organizational, research, evaluation, and report writing skills
Experience managing staff in a supervisory role
Resourcefulness, initiative, and flexibility to function collaboratively as part of a small team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Experience working with WordPress, database software, e-learning applications (Adobe Connect), and/or Adobe Creative applications an asset
Fluency in French is an asset
Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license; access to vehicle preferred
