Project Manager / Office Manager – Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve – Parry Sound, Ontario

Dynamic environmental organization seeks 2 part-time, or 1 full-time position for office and project management.

Successful candidate(s) will be exceptionally well-organized with the ability to support all aspects of organizational development including: administration, human resources, finance, communications, marketing, and fundraising.

Minimum of three years experience, preferably in a non-government organization setting.

Skills required include: time management, communications, able to receive and provide direction, creative thinker, able to assess and seize opportunities, and strong research skills.

Independent worker with the ability to multi-task across a variety of files. Able to design organizational systems and train staff to improve efficiency and performance with regard to office and project management.

Will assist a management team and be in close communication with key decision-makers. Leadership development and skills training provided.

(1) Project Management

Position: 3 days/week

Salary range: $20/hrdepending on experience

This two-year project is part of a larger, regional and provincial ecotourism program called Amazing Places. The successful candidate will preferably have a minimum of 3 years of project management experience. They will lead the program by managing partnerships and networks with stakeholders and organizations in the region, by leveraging resources through grants and partnerships, and by liaising with provincial partners on strategic plans.

Daily responsibilities include: ensuring the profiled sites are developing as per plans, managing partner expectations and responding to needs/interests, working with marketing partners, supervising junior staff, and handling budgets. They will also lead on media relations, social media campaigns, and other duties associated with reporting and measuring program impact.

Specific skills: proven track record of project management and staff supervision. Excellent oral, written, and online communications. Ability to work independently while contributing to a regional and provincial team of professional colleagues. An interest or background in sustainable tourism, conservation, education and community economic development is ideal.

(2) Office Management

Position: 2 days/week

Salary range: $18-20/hour depending on experience

Responsible for creating and maintaining administration protocols, including: record keeping, organizational files, annual program reports, ensuring completion of project files. Database management is an asset for membership, performance tracking, and archival purposes.

The position will provide support to a management team by handling inquiries, and providing both internal and external communications support. They will assist with human resources, including: staff meetings, professional development training, and intern and volunteer support.

Preference would be given to those that also have skills in the following areas:

(a) Fund development – through grant writing and fundraising events, and/or:

(b) Bookkeeping – using Quickbooks™ online, for approximately 4 to 6 hours/week. This would be an asset but is not required.

The ideal candidate will have excellent computer, web, and social media skills, with the ability to implement marketing plans, oversee brand use, promotional campaigns and advertising. They will have experience with website administration, and remain current within a changing environment.

A current drivers license and access to a vehicle are required.
