Trusts Program Manager – Manitoba Habitat Heritage Corporation – Manitoba

As the Trusts Program Manager, you will:
Supervise and manage the MHHC trust team
In consultation with the CEO and the management team, develop annual budgets and oversee annual program plans for the trusts
Working with the leadership team, and within the framework of the strategic plan, oversee annual granting cycles to ensure that priority activities are delivered, and milestones are achieved as per annual work plans
Key areas of activity overseen include, but are not limited to:
Application processes that are efficient and consistent with the purposes of the Trusts the MHHC strategic plan
Internal and external technical review processes of applications
Grant award recommendations for review and approval by the MHHC Board
Criteria and templates for contribution agreement and grantee reporting
Guidelines for review of interim and final reports of projects, including monitoring/auditing of same as per MHHC guidelines
Structured reporting of grants program outputs and outcomes as required within MHHC and to external stakeholders
Internal and external communications in support of the Trusts granting programs
Ensure a framework for Trusts granting decisions that are focused on priority outcomes, aligns with current scientific knowledge and is consistent with objectives established for the trusts
Adapt and implement evaluation protocols that aggregate project outputs and translate them into conservation outcomes that can be assessed against the purposes of the Trusts and reported to key partners and general audiences

You and Your Experience:
A post-secondary degree in the agricultural or environmental sciences
Five years of experience with environmental granting, either as a grants program manager, or soliciting competitive grants from funders
Direct experience with habitat and environmental conservation programs, especially in the agricultural landscape
Ability to lead a staff team and work effectively within a leadership team
Demonstrated ability to deliver a strategic approach to decision-making in the allocation of funds to achieve priority outcomes
Ability to foster productive external working relationships with key partners, potential donors, grantees, and other key groups tied to MHHC granting initiatives
Excellent written and oral communications
Significant computer experience using MS Office; experience with grants management software is an asset
Ability to deliver results within tight deadlines
Driver’s license and a suitable vehicle for work use

The Manitoba Habitat Heritage Corporation (MHHC) is a registered charitable organization based in Manitoba, Canada. MHHC was formed to work in partnership with Manitoba landowners to maintain and enhance fish and wildlife habitat. The Corporation is governed by a nine-member Board of Directors and has twenty-three full-time employees, located in eight offices throughout southern Manitoba.
MHHC was established in 1986 as a provincial Crown Corporation but underwent a significant transformation on February 1, 2021, when it became a private, charitable organization. While the organization has evolved over the decades, its charitable purpose – conservation, restoration and enhancement of fish and wildlife habitat – has remained the same.
