Community Health Coordinator – Canadian Red Cross – Charlottetown

Reporting to the Provincial Director, the incumbent is accountable for the delivery and monitoring of Community Health programs such as HELP (Health Equipment Loan Program) and other community initiatives in Prince Edward Island.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate, develop and implement Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP) in three (3) designated PEI locations.
Ensure volunteers are recruited, trained, assigned, supervised and evaluated according to Volunteer Resource Management principles.
Ensure safety standards and recycle mandate are being met.
Develop, coordinate and implement specific Community Health initiatives.
Liaise with community agencies/organizations regarding Community Health services/initiatives to foster mutual understanding, coordination and partnership.
Conduct community assessments, where or if appropriate.
Participate in the preparation and monitoring of provincial grants and specific program budgets.
Collect and prepare reports on program statistics as well as create ad hoc reports and presentations.
Support other Red Cross initiatives, as needed, to provide for a coordinated team effort to meet the needs of the vulnerable in our communities.

Qualifications:

The minimum qualifications for this job are College or University education in a health related discipline with one to three years of job related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a health-related field.

Strong communication skills, both written and oral, in English is mandatory.  Fluency in French is an asset.
Sound experience in supervising and directing the work of volunteers.
Ability to prioritize and organize multiple issues simultaneously in a complex environment.
Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making abilities, combined with sound organizational and supervisory skills, are essential.
Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Previous experience working with volunteers is an asset.
Demonstrated customer service, computer proficiency and presentation skills.
Familiarity with Island geography and communities.
Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel within province.
A satisfactory driver’s abstract is required.
A satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
Standard First Aid & CPR certification is required.
