Supervisor Accounting Services – School District No. 41

The Supervisor, Accounting Services, would join their progressive Financial Services team. Reporting to the Manager, Finance & Budgets, this exempt management position would be desirable for a practitioner willing to take on a challenging role that includes responsibilities for the day-to-day operations of the Accounting department and be involved in business planning activities including new initiatives or projects.

This position is responsible for overseeing and supervising of accounting support staff to ensure maintenance of high levels of service and achievement of departmental priorities and objectives. Activities of the department include accounts payable, accounts receivables, banking and investments, month end processes, account reconciliations and analysis and various statutory reporting.

The Supervisor, Accounting Services is also responsible for ensuring that financial processes and controls are maintained; preparing a variety of financial reports, assisting in compiling budget information, supporting District administrators in fulfilling their financial responsibilities, financial systems administration, year-end audit preparation, and support to schools in all areas of school finance.

The successful candidate will have graduated from a recognized accounting program and hold a CPA accounting designation, have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and possess 5 – 7 years of progressive finance and accounting experience with at least 2 years of supervisory experience. Experience in a school district or another unionized public sector environment would be an asset.
