Customer Service Representative – Recycling Alternative – Vancouver, British Columbia

We are a fast expanding, locally owned recycling company looking for a Customer Service representative. Successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Ability to work independently, however, is expected. Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential attributes. Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional tone are a necessary requirement when dealing with clients on the phone as well as walk-in customers.

Candidate must be well versed in all basic computer functions including Microsoft Office Word and Excel, basic accounting skills are an asset. Your role will be to interact with customers to provide and process information in response to inquiries, concerns and requests about products and services via phone and email.

Ideal for an Environmental or Sustainability Studies students and recent grads!

Term: Full-time position starting immediately

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:45am-5:15pm

Customer Service Duties:

Answer telephone, screen and direct calls, take and relay messages
Provide relevant company, service and pricing information to callers
Manage general customer service email inbox, respond to email inquiries
Quote and set up new customers, manage changes to customer accounts & services
Greet and accommodate walk-in customers
Book appointments, schedule customer pick-ups, communicate with drivers
Organize and maintain all digital filing systems pertaining to the customer accounts

Administrative & Accounting Duties:

General administrative and clerical support
Collect/receive and sort mail and deliveries
Tidy and maintain the reception area and kitchen
Maintain/update tracking spreadsheets
Accounts receivable – processing cheque and credit card payments, answering customer enquiries, calling customers regarding accounts.

Qualifications:

Experience with administrative and clerical procedures
Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications
Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
Knowledge of basic accounts receivable an asset
Knowledge and experience in recycling industry/sector an asset
Passion for sustainability and recycling

Strong verbal and written communication skills
Understands the importance of strong customer service value
Information management, handles confidential and sensitive materials
Attention to detail, takes the initiative, problem solving skills
Comfortable in a fast-paced working environment
Willing to adapt to a changing work environment and job description
Love of cats an asset, we have two office cats who require constant attention (this is a shared responsibility)
