Program Assistant – Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia – Halifax City

Working with Junior Achievement is an experience not to be missed! We are seeking an enthusiastic team player to assist our program managers with office administration, database management, and volunteer screening. This is a great opportunity to develop your communication, teamwork, and office administration skills while contributing to an important, growing, youth focused organization.

Here’s what you’ll do:
Support JA Program Managers with:

Sorting, packing, and recycling of program materials
Volunteer screening
Formal correspondence, written and oral
Event support
Typing, editing, reviewing, and formatting using MS Word
Faxing, photocopying, and scanning
Creating and editing spreadsheets using MS Excel
Database Entry and Management
Respond to inquiries by phone or email
Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties

Requirements:

Experience in office administration
Excellent computer skills, including MS Office
Excellent command of MS Word including formatting and templates
Excellent follow-up and organizational skills
Ability to multi-task and reprioritize depending on workload
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated and quick learner
Keen attention to detail so your work is completed to the highest degree of accuracy
Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with ease and remain calm under pressure
Access to a reliable vehicle would be considered an asset
Raiser’s Edge experience would be considered an asset

Since JA is all about students and learning, that’s what we expect you to do while you’re working with us. You’ll share your knowledge and be encouraged to learn new things. We’ll want you to tell us how we could make things better and offer suggestions for changing it up. Overall the Program Assistant will provide full support to the Junior Achievement staff in implementation of Junior Achievement programs throughout Nova Scotia. The focus will be on four signature programs: Company Program, Our Business World, Economics for Success, and Dollars with Sense. Help will be needed with events, volunteers and community outreach.

Salary: $13.00 per hour based on a 30-hour week (seasonal contract)
Location: Halifax
Start/end dates: September, 2015 to June, 2016
