Science Communicator & Illustrator – Fuse Consulting – Edmonton

YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
Develop interpretive signs and custom infographics by leveraging your talents in graphic design and digital illustrations.
Review scientific reports, identify key messages, and use digital illustration and graphic design skills to bring that knowledge to life.
Bring creativity and scientific credibility to infographic projects that help communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
Synthesize key messages from multiple scientific reports and communicate this information in clear compelling ways (i.e., briefing notes, interpretive signs, synthesis reports) for a range of audiences (i.e., policy makers, industry managers, ENGO leaders, the public etc.)
Work alongside leading researchers to produce regular infographics and illustrations for peer-reviewed papers.
Align and enhance the Fuse social media presence and brand through content creation, written communications and support on the strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Evidence of a strong commitment to: personal growth, excellence in your work, and influence through thoughtful contributions to science-based discussions.
Degree in Communication, Sustainability, Ecology, Conservation Biology, Forestry, Land Restoration, or a related discipline. A graduate degree would be an asset.
Experience with the Adobe Suite and with graphic design and/or digital illustrations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Personal and/or professional experience completing digital illustration projects.
Experience working as a team player with the ability to work independently.
An internal drive for both individual and team achievement.
Ability to adjust to changing demands and timelines.
Strong attention to detail and an appreciation for graphic design.
Experience designing and illustrating graphics that convey science concepts

POSITION DETAILS:
This is a full-time position, and the candidate will play a key role in helping us grow our business and our influence at Fuse. If you are looking for a chance to work in a dynamic company, focused on contributing to solving some of Canada’s most complex conservation and land management challenges, you will find fulfillment in this role. Salary will be commensurate with experience, and includes a comprehensive health benefits plan, paid vacation, and a fun, people-centered work culture that is committed to your personal and professional development. We have key hubs located in Edmonton, AB, Calgary, AB and Salmon Arm, BC. This position is considered hybrid/remote with the option to be based out of one of these great locations.
The salary range is $52,000 to $65,000 for a 37.5-hour work week, and this position would qualify for a performance based bonus.
