Arts and Culture Programmer – City of Pitt Meadows

The City of Pitt Meadows is seeking an Arts and Culture Programmer to provide arts and cultural work assisting with the planning, developing, coordinating, leading, implementing and evaluating arts and culture programs for various ages and special interest groups. Reporting to the Senior Arts and Cultural Services Coordinator, this position will assist with coordinating the operations and promotion of arts and cultural services and programs that contributes to making art and culture interesting and accessible to all audiences. The incumbent will maintain effective liaison with the general public, residents, City departments, community groups and organizations – providing leadership and instruction for programs, assisting with recruiting, training and overseeing the work of volunteers and contract workers. The work requires cross-organizational collaboration as well as the exercise of considerable independent judgement and action.

Critical to the role is the work of processing filming permits based on City policies and fee schedules. The incumbent will be solution-focused and able to work effectively with filming production companies and the BC Film Commission in respects to negotiating and issuing permits and mitigating film impacts within the City of Pitt Meadows.

The successful candidate will have completed a post-secondary program in arts and culture, recreation or related field at a recognized institution, plus sound knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of community arts and cultural services and programming, and film permit processing; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A B.C Driver’s license and St. John’s First Aid certificate (or equivalent) is required. Experience with lesson planning, supervising and teaching all ages, as well as experience with municipal environments is considered an asset.
