IT Business Analyst – BC Transit – Victoria, BC

BC Transit is a provincial crown corporation and coordinates the delivery of safe, reliable, cost-efficient and market-focused transit services in British Columbia outside of the Greater Vancouver region. Working in partnership with local governments and private companies, BC Transit provides direct services in fleet acquisition and management, contract administration, transit planning, marketing and financial services.

This position is based in Victoria which is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. Victoria (regional population 330,000) is the capital of British Columbia and a community of choice for many, due to our temperate climate, natural beauty and diverse economic opportunities. Victoria is an international resort destination with a transportation network that includes airport, helicopter and seaplane services, buses, ferry, and cruise ships.

Role and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the IS Architect and Technology Manager, the Business Analyst supports information systems solutions development and delivery by assisting with user needs analysis and business systems design, support and testing. This opportunity provides the unique experience to work in a small IT shop with a variety of internal departments to implement diverse IT solutions that will enable BC Transit to stabilize, standardize and enhance both internal and external customer’s experiences.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
This position requires a degree or diploma in Computer Science or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. ITIL Certification is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

3 + years’ experience Business Analysis experience in an IT department
Significant experience in an IT department utilizing ITIL methodology
Experience in using IT resources at an advanced level to create IT solutions, enabling organizations to better meet their goals
3+ years managing small to medium IT projects
3+ years supporting IT systems
Experience in determining operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and other documentation software
Prefer experience in technical IT; COBIT experience and/or training; Project Portfolio Management tools

Additional Information:

This is a temporary position anticipated to be required for up to two years.
This position requires the completion of a clear Criminal Record Check.
Testing and assessments will be included as part of the recruitment process.
