Discover Charlottetown is seeking a university or college student with an interest in tourism to work full-time as the 2015 Visitor Information Coordinator. The successful candidate will work closely with the Marketing & Communications Manager and Project Manager to provide visitor information using a unique, bike-based visitor information centre. The 2015 Visitor Information Coordinator will represent Discover Charlottetown at events in Charlottetown and provide visitors to Charlottetown with directions and information to help them enjoy their vacation. The Coordinator will also be responsible for collecting visitor data. Additional responsibilities will include promoting member packages and deals and assisting the Marketing & Communications Manager with tasks related to enhancing member and visitor information services.
Eligibility
To be eligible, you must be:
a full-time secondary or post-secondary student in an accredited institution
currently recognized as having full-time student status by the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled
returning to full-time studies in the next academic term
a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
Bilingual in Canada’s official languages of English and French
Qualifications
Knowledge of Charlottetown, including business, general history and sites of interest
An enthusiastic interest in interacting with the public and being a friendly ambassador of Charlottetown
Ideal candidate will be enrolled in post-secondary program with a focus on hospitality, tourism or Canadian history or have equivalent experience and training
Experience in customer service
Experience in social media communications
Comfortable using an iPad
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a professional setting
Experience in bicycling and bicycle safety is a strong asset
Candidate must be able to bike within the City limits.
Available during some evenings and weekends
Bilingualism (English and French)
