Description:

Under the direction of the Fleet Manager this position performs work at the journeyman level in the repair of Truck and Transport or Heavy Equipment.  Assignments are given in the form of written or oral instructions.  Work is subject to review through tests and the operating condition of equipment after work is completed.

Position Summary:

Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of Heavy equipment/trucks and other related components;
Installation of electrical equipment including radios;
Perform scheduled maintenance service such as oil changes, lubrications and tune ups and tire changes;
Complete reports to record problems and work performed;
Other related duties as required.

Position Specifications:

Education and Experience:  Minimum prerequisite is journeyman’s certificate with at least five years of relevant experience in Heavy Equipment or Truck and Transport repair.  An equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.

Knowledge and Desired Skills: Valid NB drivers license, class V; knowledge of standard practices and equipment of the automotive mechanic trade; knowledge of the principles of operation of gasoline and diesel engines and of mechanical repair methods applicable to a variety of fleet vehicles; knowledge of occupational hazards and safety practices of the trade; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to diagnose or trouble shoot engine and electrical problems: must have complete set of tools to perform the work listed above.

Salary:  $24.47 / hour plus $175.00 BSA
