The City of Prince Rupert requires a dynamic leader to join our management team as an Aquatic Centre Manager. Reporting to the Director of Recreation and Community Services, the incumbent demonstrates a high degree of initiative, exceptional communication skills, and a proven ability to effectively manage people, projects and finances relating to the operation and maintenance of aquatic facilities in a municipal or related sector.

This role will provide the greatest satisfaction to a detail oriented individual who thrives in a multi-faceted environment and enjoys coaching, development and leading staff to reach their full potential. As this is a visible position and requires considerable contact with the public, the successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgement and a high degree of tactfulness and diplomacy at all times while working with guests and staff.

The ideal candidate will have:

Completed a bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Leisure Studies or a related field
A minimum of five years’ experience in management, programming, and staff development in an aquatic facility
National Lifeguard Service Award (Pool option)
Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer certification
Lifesaving Society Instructor certification (Advanced Instructor and Examiner)
BC Recreation and Parks Association Pool Operator Level II certification
Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, report writing and presentation skills
A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
A clear RCMP Criminal Record Search including a Vulnerable Sector Check
