Head Lifeguard III – City of Wetaskiwin – Wetaskiwin, AB

Position Summary

Reporting to the Coordinator, Aquatic Operations, the Head Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety for patrons of the Manluk Center brand new aquatic facility located in the City of Wetaskiwin.

The Head Lifeguard will be responsible for ensuring daily operations are preformed safety for staff and patrons within the Centre, preventing injuries through public education, providing first aid, completing maintenance tasks, and administration tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise 10 employees per shift and will be required to work shifts
Responsible for scheduling Lifeguards for shifts using scheduling software (When2Work)
Monitor all Health and Safety regulations for compliance
Teach Lifeguards working towards NLS, WSI, AEC certifications
Prevent injuries by providing public education and administering first aid treatment and/or emergency response is required
Ensure a clean and safe facility for patrons by completing daily maintenance tasks
Set up and take down equipment according to the facility schedule
Conducts routine safety inspections and enforces safety rules and regulations
Provide customer service to patrons

Qualifications

Minimum Grade 12, and a certificate or diploma in Recreation is preferred
Must have completed the following certifications: National Lifeguard Service (NLS),  Aquatic Emergency Care (AEC) and/or Standard First Aid (SFA) with CPR Level C & AED
Oxygen Administration (O2), would be an asset
Experience using scheduling software (When2Work), and Maximum Solutions or equivalent

Experience

Minimum of two (2) years of proven, supervisor experience in a larger aquatic and recreation facility
Aquatic experience and Aqua-Aerobic fitness certification would be an asset, will train suitable candidates
Possess exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage and complete tasks
Proven customer service skills in with the ability to promote positive internal & external customer relations
Able to work evenings and weekends as required
