Chief Executive Officer – TransLink – Boyden – Vancouver, BC

Delivering a world class transportation system, TransLink is committed to excellence as Metro Vancouver’s transportation authority.

Of the world’s major cities, only Vancouver, London and Paris have managed to integrate public transit and road planning under one central authority with its own stream of revenue. With a combined workforce of over 6,700 employees and $8.1 billion in assets ($2.4 billion that TransLink manages and are leased from the Province of BC), the new CEO of TransLink will lead a complex organization responsible for the planning, funding, building and operation of an integrated transportation system for the movement of people and goods in Metro Vancouver. To the 2.3 million people who live in Metro Vancouver, TransLink is an essential contributor to their quality of life, work and play.

Given the central role of TransLink in the life of the region and the province, this is a critical public position. As CEO, you will be front and centre as the chief spokesperson, relationship developer and strategist for the organization. Working closely with partners in the three levels of government, the public/private sector and the general public, you will articulate and relentlessly promote the vision of a transportation future where people and goods move in a way that promotes a healthy economy, environment and quality of life for generations to come. Internally, the new CEO will provide engaged leadership to the teams in operations, finance, project management, procurement, planning, public affairs, real estate development and environmental stewardship. The CEO will ensure TransLink has the human resource and IT capabilities to excel both now and in the long term. Externally, the CEO must be an ambassador of a progressive model of urban mobility, community dialogue and corporate citizenship.

As a private or public sector senior executive, you have demonstrated your ability to lead complex organizations and work collaboratively with boards, public sector stakeholders, complex missions and significant growth. With your excellent communications and media relations skills, you are also adept at shaping public opinion and rallying support. This is a rare opportunity to provide strategic leadership for transportation to Canada’s third largest urban region and shape regional growth through transit in a world class city.
