Director Regional Development – Montreal – World Federation of Hemophilia

SUMMARY –
The WFH is currently seeking a dynamic, highly-motived, results-oriented Director, Regional Development to effectively lead the implementation and oversee the operations of its regional structure in each WFH development regions: Asia Pacific, Latin America, Middle East and Africa, Europe.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and as a member of the senior management team, the Director
occupies a principal role in structuring and delivering services to the WFH National Member Organizations (NMO) located regionally across the world, as well as in integrating the organizations in an overall strategic framework to fulfill the WFH mission of Treatment for all.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES –
• Responsible for implementation of all regional development activities of the WFH Strategic Plan as approved by the WFH Board of Directors
• Develops annual work objectives in line with strategic plan and is responsible for all operational functions related to this sector, including planning, prioritization, implementation, and evaluation of activities
• Sets annual budget, monitors revenue and expenses, and produces quarterly and annual reports
• Acts as point of contact for Regional Development department matters and issues with the Board of directors, staff, corporate partners and sponsors

Regional Development
• Responsible for designing and implementing a regional organization that will include staff based at the headquarters and in the regions according to the direction given by the WFH board and CEO (currently 3 positions are filled in Montreal – 4 will be opened in the regions)
• For each regions, defines strategic objectives and assist the Regional Manager in the development of yearly plans that include programs developed by the WFH – ex., Programs & Education, Humanitarian Aid, Research & Public Policy

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS –
• University degree in international development, public health, political studies, social sciences, education,
or related field
• Ten (10) years (minimum) of relevant work experience in non-profit international development organizations – healthcare sector preferred – leading, monitoring & evaluating regional development;additional four (4) years in a senior management role as functional lead, or equivalent experience
• Proven successful experience in regional healthcare development programs, and implementation in one or more emerging countries, essential – and additionally, in WFH region/s (an asset)
• Excellent understanding, relevant background in international program and regional resource development: a global geographic perspective, with specific sensitivity to current and emerging healthcare issues and international development
• Excellent analytical skills and capacity to implement visionary projects; innovative, creative
• Strong financial planning and budget management experience and skills
• Significant experience working with boards and/or their committees, ideally in an international, volunteer-driven organization
• Strong team leader, with demonstrable ability to engage and motivate a highly autonomous professional staff around a shared vision and mission; capacity to collaborate effectively with other functional groups
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (primary language of work), plus knowledge of French and/or Spanish; other international language/s – an asset
• Legally entitled to live and work in Quebec, Canada
• Availability and flexibility to undertake regular travel within all of WFH world regions and at key international gatherings (50 – 60% travel time expected)
