Lead Hand Utility Service Person – District of Mackenzie

The District of Mackenzie is seeking to fill the position of a Lead Hand Utility Service Person. This position is responsible for various manual maintenance and construction work that has varying levels of complexity. This position exercises considerable independence of judgement and action, particularly in specialized tasks. Work involves ongoing and preventative maintenance and repair to water and waste water equipment. In addition this position will coordinate the work requirements including the training, instruction and assignment of tasks to workers assigned to assist in utility related construction and maintenance projects.

The Lead Hand Utility Service Person will work under the direction and mentorship of the Public Works Superintendent.

The desired education, training and competencies for this position are as follows:
Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Level 1
Wastewater Collection Level 1
Water Distribution Level 2
Grade 12 or equivalent
Valid BC Driver’s Licence – Class 5
Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and material used in general construction and maintenance work
Reasonable knowledge of the Work Safe BC Industrial Health and Safety Regulations, in particular excavation and shoring practices

This is a unionized position within the CUPE 3706 Bargaining Unit, offering an hourly wage of $34.19.
