Nuxalk Nation Marine Manager – Nuxalk Nation – British Columbia

JOB PURPOSE
To coordinate Nuxalk technical activities related to: fisheries; ocean protection; conservation; climate change; Marine Planning Partnership (MaPP) implementation; marine shipping response; marine stewardship; habitat restoration; and compliance and monitoring, by implementing Nuxalk governance over Nuxalk territory.

KEY ACTIVITIES
Work with First Nations, Governmental and non-Governmental agencies to develop workplans, and manage implementation of projects related to the Nuxalk Marine Use Plan.
Build capacity, identify resources and implement projects at the Nation-level.
Lead Nuxalk work on Marine Protected Area (MPA) implementation through to 2025.
Attend regular meetings with project partners, via Zoom/Teams, or in-person.
Be an active participant on the Fisheries Resource Reconciliation Agreement (FRRA) Central Coast Technical Working Group and Science Sub-committees.
Work on conservation projects for protection of wildlife, and wildlife habitat.
Provide supervision and support for the Marine Use Coordinator.
Carry out other duties that may be requested by Nuxalk Stewardship staff.

SALARY
The position is a full-time annual contract based on a 35-hour work week. The pay rate is commensurate with experience.
