Finance Manager – Town of Truro

The Town of Truro is currently accepting applications for a permanent full time position of Finance Manager.  The successful candidate will be self-motivated, people oriented and will provide efficient, effective and timely financial support to all Town departments.  This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) and is subject to the terms and conditions contained in the Town of Truro’s Non-Union Personnel Policy

Nature of the position:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Corporate Services, the Finance Manager is responsible for all finance and accounting activities as delegated by the Director.  Primary responsibilities to include timely preparation of monthly financial and departmental reporting including variance analyses, maintenance of proper accounting procedures to ensure accurate and complete financial recordkeeping, annual audit preparations and facilitation, and assistance with the annual budget process.  In addition the Manager will supervise all finance and front office staff and provide assistance to other management and staff as required.

Education and Experience:

Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CA; CPA, CGA; CPA, CMA), an asset;
Minimum of five (5) years post graduate experience, preferably in a municipal government environment;
Experience in personnel management would be considered an asset;
Excellent knowledge of all finance and accounting functions;
Working knowledge of computer applications.
