Weston Bakeries Limited, an internationally recognized producer of fresh and frozen bakery products, has an immediate opening for a Warehouse/Distribution Manager, reporting to the Plant Manager.

Responsibilities:

Ensures correct product & volumes are delivered to the customer on time & in saleable condition;
Tracks productivity daily in order to meet & exceed the budget targets;
Accurately plans floor layout changes to meet volume demands;
Co-ordinates and communicates with the Transportation Department to manage inbound and outbound shipments;
Ensure all products are received through reconciliation and pro-rate shortages with customers left to ship;
Cost effectively schedules weekly manpower requirements based on projected volumes and previous year’s history. Monitors planned volume to actual and adjusts labour needs to support volume;
Daily contingency planning to react to exceptions created by external & internal influences to meet customer expectations
Prepares daily shift reports to provide an accurate overview of activities, hours and exceptions for team;
Assists in creating the annual budget with the Plant Manager;
Auditing & allocating vendor invoices to ensure accuracy of billing;
Evaluates & purchases material handling equipment & supplies;
Ensures payroll is accurately processed in a timely manner and
Proactively handles all documentation & disciplinary issues;
Develops & establishes systems & process to reduce costs & waste while increasing productivity;
Implements new processes that consistently improve service to the customer while achieving cost targets;
Develops, monitors & updates contingency plans as to ensure adherence to Crisis Management guidelines;
Ensures facilities & equipment are maintained in good working order & ensure the safety & efficiency of the work environment;
Manages the repair & maintenance costs effectively including the purchasing of supplies & materials;

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years’ experience at a supervisory level in a manufacturing/production warehouse facility;
Post-secondary education preferred with focus on business & labour relations;
Strong organizational, planning & computer skills (Word & Excel) required;
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (oral & written)
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a large group; Experience in a unionised environment an asset;
Strong negotiation skills;
Flexibility to work shifts and weekends as necessary;
